CHENNAI: A year ago, Arjun Erigaisi was battling on two fronts - against opponents on the chessboard and mounting expectations in his own mind. "It was a painful period," he admits. He came close to qualifying for the 2024 Candidates multiple times but couldn't secure a spot.
