Primark in Bristol became the fourth store in the country to become home to a Greggs cafe when its doors opened on Friday. Taking over where Costa used to live, the new ‘Tasty by Greggs’ cafe looks much like the other cafes in Birmingham, Oxford Street London and Newcastle upon Tyne but with one feature special to Bristol.
Wanting to see what the new cafe was like, I headed down to have a look and grab a bite to eat.
As I entered Primark itself I found the shop to be relatively busy but not heaving so I was hoping the same could be said for the cafe. Heading up to the first floor, my first impression was that it’s not hard to miss at all, with all the bright colours and standout features like the iconic sausage roll swing and the feature wall inspired by Bristol’s annual Balloon fiesta.

While not overly busy, the cafe was definitely drawing in business and many people sat around having their lunch or a coffee and catch up with their friends. The venue has a range of different seating options, from its doughnut-themed booths to comfy lounge chairs and can seat up to 102 customers.
Deciding to go for the sandwich and drink deal, I grabbed a ham salad baguette and a drink before heading to the till. I also opted for their newly released Vegan Mexican Chicken free bake to see what it was like. Once I had paid, I headed to a quiet corner in a little side space to eat my lunch. Having never tried the vegan bake, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was, and how it tasted exactly like chicken fajitas. My baguette was also really good, light but filling, the perfect dish for lunch.
My overall experience in the new Greggs cafe was really good. The layout is perfect and easy to navigate, the different areas and seat styles give customers enough options and the atmosphere was really chilled, I think it’s a great addition to the store.
Tim Kelly, Director of New Business Development at Primark added: “We’re thrilled with the success of our partnership with Greggs to date – ranging from three sell-out collections to now four brilliant cafes, we’re constantly on the lookout for new ways to inspire and excite customers. We’re excited to be extending our partnership to new locations including Bristol so more customers can visit two of the best brands on the British high street in one go.”
Along with the new cafe, Primark has also got a new section run by the vintage wholesale company called ‘Worn Well' where customers can buy vintage clothing. Another great addition for Bristol shoppers.
