'I Frankly Wasn't Listening': Farage's Defence Revisited as Met Opens Criminal Inquiry Into Alleged Foreign-Donation Discussions Involving Reform UK

The Metropolitan Police has expanded its criminal investigation into Reform UK over alleged discussions about channelling a proposed £500,000 donation from a US-based donor into the party, putting fresh pressure on Nigel Farage's defence that he 'frankly wasn't listening' when the proposal was outlined in front of him.

The Met's Special Enquiry Team said the investigation followed a joint undercover operation by Channel 4 News and Verbatim Investigations, in which a reporter posed as the UK-based son of a wealthy American donor.
