'I feel sorry for him!' - Erik ten Hag sent Manchester United message after Brighton hammering

After producing an uninspiring first-half performance against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening, Manchester United produced a shameful one in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.

Trailing 1-0 at half-time through Moises Caicedo's first goal for the club, the Seagulls soon added three goals after the break to open up a commanding 4-0 lead. Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard all scored to blow United away in dramatic fashion.

Cucurella smashed a fierce effort past David De Gea, Gross danced his way past Raphael Varane and Trossard bundled the ball home from close range. The Seagulls, too, could have scored even more, highlighting just how well they were performing.

But whilst Brighton's supporters celebrated, United's players and supporters stood in disbelief at what was happening. They were being taken to the cleaners by a side that had not won at home since Boxing Day.

It, once again, highlighted just how desperate the club is to reach the end of the season and start afresh under Erik ten Hag next season. Unsurprisingly, United's second-half disasterclass on the south coast attracted a furious reaction from the supporters watching.

Below, MEN Sport has taken a close look at what they had to say on social media.

United did put the ball in the net after enjoying an improved spell, but Edinson Cavani's tap-in was deemed offside.
