A little over five days ago, Crimson Desert received a patch on PlayStation 5 that introduced a new 4K output mode. Since then, many Xbox players have been left wondering why a similar update has not arrived for Xbox Series X, despite it being the more powerful console.
We reached out to Pearl Abyss, the developer behind Crimson Desert, but they declined to comment on the absence of a 4K update for Xbox Series X. So, here is a closer look at what Xbox players were missing out on from the latest patch for the widely popular game.
What Xbox Series X was missing from this update
Xbox Series X has now received a 4K upscaling option in Performance Mode, bringing it closer in line with what PlayStation 5 offers.
Previously, Xbox Series X had to rely on dynamic resolution regardless of display output. On PlayStation 5, users had been given the option to enable a fixed 4K output, improving visual quality and providing a sharper image through FSR.
That was the only difference, but as Xbox fans had been quick to point out, it had been over six days since this patch arrived. PlayStation 5 users were already benefiting from improved output resolution, which raised the question of where the same option was for Xbox Series X.
As of today, however, the update has now arrived for Xbox Series X users, making the game now feature parity with PS5.
Pearly Abyss did not provide any details as to why the update took longer on Xbox, but it's good that it's here nevertheless.
It’s been 5 days since this patch dropped, and the Xbox Series X still doesn’t have the 4K output mode.@CrimsonDesert_ is there any plan to bring this option to Xbox?Loving the game, but console parity would be appreciated 🙏 pic.twitter.com/gEBLlaxO9yApril 3, 2026
We initially reached out to Pearl Abyss, the developer of Crimson Desert, regarding the lack of a 4K output option on Xbox Series X. In their reply, they declined to comment.
It is good to see Xbox Series X now receiving improvements in this area, especially as the update on PlayStation 5 appeared to make a noticeable difference to visual quality on PlayStation 5. I have been playing at 1440p on PC, but as someone with a soft spot for Xbox, this is at least a welcome change.
