As the cost of food, among many other things, is soaring, many of us are keen to find the best deals we can when it comes to the weekly shop.
With this in mind, one woman took trips to both Tesco and Aldi to see what the difference in price would be. Aldi is known for its low-cost own brand items, with the huge retailer often coming top when cheapest supermarkets are revealed.
However, this has now led to a number of its rivals matching many of its products in price. One of these is Tesco.

Tesco said it matches hundreds of items with Aldi, and claims these are all "comparable" with products sold by its rival. Writing for Birmingham Live, Rebecca Astill purchased 15 items she regularly buys each week and compared the difference. The results were quite surprising.
Rebecca said she is a lifelong Tesco customer, but "if the price difference was shocking", she would make the switch to Aldi. Here is what she found:
Rebecca said: "I was taken aback to discover the difference was only a matter of £1.82. I was so sure it would be far more than that.
One thing I discovered is that a lot of the basic items, which is what I was shopping for to represent an average shop, are Aldi price matched in Tesco.
"I did find the Aldi price match isn't always 100%, but it certainly went both ways. Plus, surprisingly, Tesco was cheaper for a few items, including mince, cucumber and cheese - but not quite enough to sway the final total.
"Though Aldi works out slightly cheaper on staples, my small amount of research has convinced me that I'm okay to stick to Tesco for now."
