'I can't afford pricey garden furniture sets - so I DIYd my own for nothing'

During the summer Brits tend to spend more time in their gardens than ever, but while it's always nice to be out in nature, it can be quite expensive to buy outside furniture for you to relax in.

When gardening whizz Izwe looked around for some garden furniture to put in his backyard for his family, he couldn't believe how expensive it was. Instead, he decided to take some pallets from work and built it for free.

According to the TikTok creator, who often posts inspirational videos from his immaculate garden on his account @for_plants_sake, it only took him three afternoons to finish it - all after his day job.

In a recent video, Izwe showed how he managed to build the incredible seating area using the pallets, which he said are "free, durable and sustainable". He added: "Garden furniture is so expensive but this material is freely available. All one needs is imagination and a bit of graft."

First, Izwe cleaned and tidied the area he wanted the furniture to be, before making stacks of three pallets on top of each other, as well as one behind them to create the back.

He then sawed many of the pallets apart so he could make them smaller, so it was more comfortable to sit on, and also so he could get planks to use for other parts of the sitting area. Izwe added: "Taking pallets apart is hard work." He filmed the whole process so others could see how it was made.

When the foundation was finished, Izwe and his family sanded down all the rough edges, and finished off with varnish and grey paint - revealing something that looked like professional furniture from a high end shop.

Lastly, Iswe added: "The only cost was screws £15 and stain £20."

The savvy bloke's followers were amazed by how incredible the DIY project turned out, with one person saying: "Excuse me Mr but this is better than anything you could buy. Awesome."

Another added: "You did a great job there, inspirational."

"Wow, extremely well done. You can be really proud," said a third.
