Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has sent a message to the Reds ahead of tonight’s Champions League final against Real Madrid and said ‘a lot things have changed’ since the two sides met in Kiev in 2018.
Lovren, who now plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia, played in the 3-1 defeat that year and was also part of the Liverpool squad when they became European champions a year later in 2019. He left the Reds in 2020 after 185 appearances over a six-year-spell and joined the Russian side for €12m.
The final was originally due to be played in St. Petersburg – Lovren’s current home, but due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the match was moved to Paris.

And the Croatian still clearly harbours a lot of love for the Reds and wished them good luck ahead of tonight’s clash. He tweeted: “4 years ago a lot of things changed, players are more mature and they proved that specially this season. I can only wish good luck to @LFC Come on reds. #YNWA.”
The Reds will be out for revenge and their former defender, who partnered Virgil van Dijk four years ago, will be backing them all the way.
