At this point, it’s clear to everyone that the Republican Party has been completely assimilated by Donald Trump. Sure, there were once some hold-out ‘never-Trumpers’ amongst their ranks, but they’ve been whittled away by a GOP base that hangs on Trump’s every word.
If you want a job in Washington, you’re going to have to bend the knee to Trump, and woe betide any foolish Republican who dares criticise him. This has resulted in a government run by Smithers-like yes-men, all falling over each other to lavish ridiculous praise on Dear Leader in the hopes of winning his favor.
