I never sleep well during hot weather, so this year’s relentless heatwaves have meant that I’m lacking shut-eye. And after investing in the biggest cooling fan I could find, the next item on my list is a new pair of summer pyjamas.
It's hard to know what to wear in the heat, and when it comes to bedtime, I have been muddling through the last few sweaty weeks in an array of old vests and mismatched shorts, but as the warm weather is set to continue, I want to restore some order to my nightwear attire and invest in a set that will not only keep me cool but will look and feel good too.
And I think I've found the perfect pair from TU at Sainsbury's. This supermarket set certainly ticks the boxes when it comes to style, as the cornflower blue colour, subtle striped effect and scalloped edging are so pretty, and thanks to a combination of pure cotton fabric, a boxy fit and a stretchy waistband, they should be super comfy, too.

The revere collar, mini buttons and short sleeves feel very classic, but the scalloped trims add a modern spin to this stylish pyjama shirt that I really love. It's pretty enough to wear by day, too, as pyjama silhouettes remain part of the spring/summer fashion trends for 2026, as does the pastel blue hue.

The pyjamas are sold separately, which is handy if you prefer your bottoms to be a little looser than your tops or vice versa. Each half is available in UK sizes XS-XXL, and these shorts come with a stretchy waistband for extra comfort. The seersucker will be so airy, which is exactly what I want on a warm night, and the edging adds a romantic, vintage feel.

This sorbet-shaded pair is made from a light muslin fabric and has a slouchy fit that will feel extra breezy in the heat. Blush pink is a key hue for the summer fashion colour trends for 2026, too. I'd absolutely wear this top with high-waisted trousers in the day as well.

If shorts aren't for you, try this pair that features bottoms with a similar voluminous shape to your best barrel-leg jeans. Crafted from pure cotton, they will be wonderfully breathable, even with the longer leg style, and the pretty gingham colouring is so cheery.

Postcard prints are trending for summer, and you can wear the look during your weekend lie-in with this seaside-inspired set. Made in a linen blend, you'll get the airy, breathable finish without the annoying creasing.

A soft, cotton jersey fabric will feel like a treat to wear, and there are two other pretty designs to choose from. The weather is set to stay warm, although thankfully not quite as hot as the last few days, so you'll get plenty of wear from a couple of short pyjama sets.

There are six colour options of this seersucker shirt and short set, but this joyful yellow iteration is probably my favourite. The classic, almost androgynous design features an easy-to-wear, voluminous silhouette that you'll be grateful for on warm nights. And, again, this summer loungewear-style set could be worn in the day.

For something a little more statement, opt for these smart pyjamas adorned with vintage-style illustrations. 100% cotton, this is such a fun, printed design that will make you feel more joyous, even when those hot evenings set in. And thanks to the retro feel, this print won't go out of fashion.
When it comes to tracking down pyjamas that will keep you comfortable in the heat, it's best to opt for natural fabrics such as crisp cotton, soft muslin or linen materials, as they will be much more breathable than anything synthetic. Look for looser fits that won't cling and will feel easy to move around in during the night, too.
The TU at Sainsbury's set really do all of the above, and as well as perking up my overnight wardrobe, they are so pretty that I might actually wear the shirt during the day too. It's one of those designs that could easily match up with an A-line skirt or my favourite polka dot jeans. I genuinely don't think anybody would notice, and the top would keep me cool during high summer.
When it comes to adding to your heatwave wardrobe, don't overlook your nightwear, as the right set of summer pyjamas really can make all the difference - to your sleep and your mood.
