Husband-to-be diagnosed with motor neurone disease in a race against time to get married

When partners Christine Ridout and Stuart Lewis first started dating in summer 2020, they knew they wanted to marry each other. However, they never imagined a devastating diagnosis would see them in a race against time to make their wedding day.

The pair, who both worked at former mental health hospital Ty Catrin, quickly became inseparable after a mutual colleague turned matchmaker and suggested they'd be great together. But tragically just 18-months-later, 45-year-old Stuart became terminally ill. He began experiencing the symptoms of what was later diagnosed as Motor Neurone disease (MND).
