The Carolina Panthers didn’t really need any backup during Wednesday’s melee with the New England Patriots. But they have it if they want it.
Following the most recent brouhaha between the teams—one that followed a pair of blowups in the joint practice prior—the hometown hockey team reached out via the Twitter machine and offered the Panthers some help.
Hey @Panthers let us know if you need an enforcer https://t.co/MPIEJUaRRV

Seeing as though the NHL season has been over for about a few months now, the Carolina Hurricanes probably have some extra time on their hands. And they might be chomping at the bit to use those hands—as they only dropped the gloves 10 times during the 2021-2022 campaign, the third-fewest amount of fights according to HockeyFights.com.
Hopefully, though, the fisticuffs between Carolina and New England are over—especially with their exhibition matchup coming up on Friday. Their scuffles have resulted in numerous ejections, a bunch of wasted time and even an injury scare to a fan who was seated in the front row at the Patriots’ practice facility.
You can’t, however, really blame the Hurricanes for wanting to help out one of their honorary siren sounders.
