Hurricane Isaias, which is quickly approaching the US Gulf Coast region, has been upgraded to a Category 3 hurricane, intensifying the threat of storm surge, rain, and destructive winds, especially in regions like the Florida Panhandle, southern Alabama, and southern Mississippi. Officials stated that the surging waters from the sea could prove to be a more immediate threat to the lives of people living in low-lying areas of the Gulf Coast region.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis informed citizens of the life-threatening surge and widespread damage. As shelter locations were being set up around the region, the priority has been to evacuate people from the coastal region before the weather got worse.
