ORLANDO, Fla. — The National Hurricane Center continues to keep its eye on a system in the Gulf of Mexico with a small chance to develop into tropical depression.
In its 2 p.m. Saturday tropical update, the NHC said the weak low pressure area located over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico has increased shower and thunderstorm activity.
“Surface pressures remain high and any additional development should be slow to occur while the system moves slowly west-southwestward and approaches the Texas coast later today and tonight,” said NHC senior hurricane specialist Daniel Brown. “The disturbance is forecast to move inland over southern Texas on Sunday morning.”
