People have slammed a "phantom pooch pooper" for leaving bagged up dog poo all over an area of north Liverpool.
Images shared on social media show a huge number of dog poo bags left on land at The Arches in Fazakerley, which is a small alleyway that connects Karonga Way with Swainson Road.
The images were taken by local resident James Maloney who said he finds it bizarre that someone is regularly going to the effort of bagging their pet's poo but then failing to put it in a bin and leaving it strewn along the path.

James said: "The Arches has always been a popular shortcut for people in Fazakerley to get to and from the shops and local schools, but over recent years it's fallen victim to neglect.
"Not only is it strewn with rubbish, it's become sort of an obstacle course trying to avoid the small plastic bags filled with dog mess.
"This time of year, you usually get the local councillors posing for the typical litter picking photo opportunities but they seem to have missed this part of Fazakerley. Maybe they don't know about it?"
Other twitter users agreed with James, Paul said: "Annoys me. I'm a dog owner and don't get this! If you can pick it up in bag you can take it home or find a bin! But people just lash their rubbish everywhere now."
Responding on twitter James said he doesn't know the owner behind the phantom pooch pooper but believes it is likely to be the same person dumping the mess over a long period of time.
Local Fazakerley councillor Paul Brant asked James to report the mess using Liverpool Council's portal, which can be accessed here.
Cllr Brant told the ECHO: "If dog walkers realise dog mess had to bagged, it’s astonishing they don’t also realise it should be put in a street bin or their home bin. There are no magic poo bag fairies, council workers have to be diverted from other more pressing jobs to collect them.”
