Hunt for suspect who set themselves on fire after derelict building blaze in Johnstone

Police in Renfrewshire are appealing for information and witnesses following a deliberate fire at a derelict building on Maple Drive, Johnstone.

The incident was reported around 7:30am on Sunday and is believed to have taken place on Saturday.

An investigation into the fire is ongoing and enquiries have indicated that one of the suspects may have partly set fire to their clothes during the incident.

Detective Constable Jade Clark, from Paisley CID, said: “We’re asking for anyone with information on this fire or the people involved to come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our investigation, please call 101, quoting reference 0945 of 1 May. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
