Hunt for man who sexually assaulted and spat at woman on London Tube platform

A woman was sexually assaulted and spat at by a stranger at a north London Underground station.

British Transport Police said the victim had been approached by a suspect who attacked her on the platform at Finsbury Park.

A force spokesman said: “When the woman moved away from the man, he spat at her before boarding a train and leaving the station.”

The incident happened at around 10pm on December 5.

Detectives probing the case issued a CCTV image of a man they believe may have vital information.

The spokesman added: “Detectives investigating a sexual assault at Finsbury Park Underground station in December have released this image in connection.

Anyone who recognises man is asked to contact police (British Transport Police)

“At around 10pm on Friday December 5, a man approached a woman on the platform and sexually assaulted her.

“Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured as they believe he may have information which could help their investigation.”

Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 791 of 5 December.

They can also contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
