Hunt for 'foot fetishist' who pulls off schoolgirls' shoes and sniffs their feet

A hunt is underway to find a man who is accused of attacking schoolgirls, pulling off their shoes and sniffing their feet.

Police have put a number of appeals out in relation to five incidents which span five months in the Gloucester and Bristol area.

Avon and Somerset Police has issued an e-fit photograph of what the man from the Bristol incidents may look like.

There have been three incidents recorded in the Bristol area so far. An appeal was issued as part of enquiries into incidents in Yate, at around 4pm on January 14 and a similar incident at 4.30pm on March 21 in an underpass.

There was then a third incident of a girl being inappropriately touched by a man in the Chipping Sodbury area.

This incident was reported to have taken place at about 3.15pm on May 26.

The three girls are aged between 10 and 15 and on each occasion the man has touched the children’s shoes or feet without their permission, police say.

The reports say variously that he sniffs the shoes or feet, or touches the feet.

Three of the victims, those from Yate and Chipping Sodbury, are understood to have been pupils at the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.

A South Gloucestershire and Stroud College spokesperson has urged pupils not to go home on their own, telling the website: "The police have advised students not to walk to or from college alone, have mobile phones with them when walking to and from college and to call 999 straight away if any unknown male tries to come up to them or speak to them without a valid reason.

"The male has been described as being white, 5ft 6in, skinny build, short blond/brown hair, patchy beard, blue eyes, spotty complexion and around 19 years old.

"He has targeted females between the ages of 10 and 15 within the areas of Yate and Chipping Sodbury between 3pm and 5pm."

In the first incident, the man was described to police as white, in his 20s and about 5ft 9ins tall with blond hair.

He wore a light red, blue and white block colour coat, dark trousers and blue trainers. The e-fit police released was based on this description.

A police spokesperson added: "Following the earlier appeal we’ve been grateful for a number of calls with information, which are all being assessed and followed-up.

"Officers continue to carry out targeted patrols in Yate and Chipping Sodbury, and have contacted local secondary schools to make sure children and their parents and carers were aware of the issue."

Gloucestershire Police is also investigating two other incidents.

A force spokesperson said it's liaising with colleagues at Avon and Somerset Police to establish if any of the incidents are linked.

The first incident happened in Churchdown on November 15 last year. It was reported that a teenage girl had her shoes stolen by an unknown man while sat at a bus stop.

The 17-year-old girl stated that she was at a bus stop at around 5.20pm when she was approached by the man before he used force to grab her leg and pull off her shoes. He then ran away.

The second incident also happened in Churchdown on on May 27.

It was reported that a teenage girl had her shoes stolen by an unknown man whilst walking along an alleyway.

The 16-year-old stated that she was walking through the alleyway at around 2pm when she was approached from behind by a man who put his arm around her.

She was pushed over before the man grabbed her legs and pulled off her shoes. The man ran off.

Anyone who has information or may recognise the man is asked to call local police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
