NHS trusts across the North East are still seeing patients with Covid admitted to hospitals with a small number of people currently in ventilation beds as the country attempts to live with the virus.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has recorded the highest amount of people admitted into hospital with Covid in the past seven days up to April 3 with 183 and is closely followed by County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust with 145. The data also shows that every trust in the North East except one has at least one Covid patient in ventilation beds.
It comes after the Office for National Statistics showed that one in every 13 people had Covid-19 last week. And after free Covid-19 testing ended on March 31, the latest data shows hundreds are still testing positive each day in our region and fewer tests are being taken.
