There are currently hundreds of jobs going at some of the oldest institutions in Liverpool.
The city's oldest university, the Liverpool Mechanics' School of Arts, or John Moores University as it is now known, was established as far back as 1823 and has been teaching ever since. The university is currently one of five higher education institutions catering to the city's 70,000 students.
