Three arrested at far-right Manchester march as hundreds of protestors turn out

Manchester

Far-right supporters and Britain First members have been met by counter-protesters on their march through Manchester on Saturday, with three people arrested after scuffles with police.
Greater Manchester Police have deployed extra officers and powers to manage the demonstrations in the city centre.
A reporter on the ground for Manchester Evening News has estimated that the turnout is “in the hundreds not thousands”.
Greater Manchester political leaders condemned any attempts to sow division or incite fear, saying that police will act swiftly against unlawful behaviour.
The march has been organised as a St George’s Day parade.
