HUNDREDS gathered in Ayr's Wellington Square on Tuesday night following a stabbing attack in Belfast on Monday.

Around 100 people gathered in the town centre following a call to action for protests across the country.

Similar protests are taking place in Glasgow, Edinburgh and across the UK, with violent scenes in Belfast.

It comes comes after a 30 year old man was charged with attempted murder after the incident on Kinnaird Avenue in Belfast on June 8.

The victim of the attack, a man aged in his 40s, remained in a serious condition in hospital receiving treatment for serious eye, face and back wounds.

The Ayr protest appears to be peaceful, with speeches being made and a Northern Ireland flag being flown, with police in attendence.
