Hundreds of people flocked to Lanark town centre on Friday for the launch of the town’s Winter Wonderland.
It was an evening full of Christmas fun, shopping, and seasonal entertainment as youngsters were able to visit Santa, his Elves and Poppy the Penguin for a photo in Santa’s sleigh.
They will all be returning to Lanark on the next three Saturdays between 11am and 3pm.
Greeting visitors were two singing reindeer, followed by the colourful Illuminated Lanimer costume parade which attracted over 250 participants.
Organisers Discover Lanark were delighted with the turnout as locals and visitors alike revelled in the festive cheer.
The business improvement district group's manager Antonia Pompa said: “There was a fabulous festive atmosphere in town and the event was very well attended.
"Late Night Lanark is all about supporting the town’s shops and businesses and it was wonderful to see so many people shopping local in the lead up to Christmas.”
“We have been delighted to welcome so many people to Lanark both for the Christmas Market and Lights Switch-On on November 25 and now for Late Night Lanark", Antonia continued.
“We have lots going on this coming Saturday, December 3, with our Made in Lanark Festive Market in Hunter’s Close just off the High Street.
"Some 20 local makers and food producers will be attending making this an ideal opportunity to buy those unique gifts.
"Santa and his Elves will be back in our Winter Wonderland meeting the children and there is a festive food fair upstairs on the Tolbooth to enjoy.
“Most important is that we all support our local businesses. For shopping, eating and celebrating, please make Lanark your home this Christmas.”
The evening opened with the switch on of Lanark Winter Wonderland in the presence of Lanimer Queen Caitlin Stewart, her maids Millie and Olivia, and of Santa himself.
Some magnificent festive music from Coalburn Silver and Pipe bands was also on display.
Discover Lanark paid special thanks to the Lanimer Committee for all their hard work in organising the parade, and to the Rotary Club of Lanark for sponsoring the singing reindeer on the night.
And a particular favourite with the crowds was stilt walker Freya Pellie who towered above visitors with her spectacular illuminated Snow Queen.
