On Saturday morning, close to 300 cyclists will come together and ride in unison to commemorate Canberra cyclists Bridie Lee and Ryan Riethmuller, who died following a crash on Gungahlin Drive on August 27.
The two cyclists were part of the Canberra Bilbys Triathlon Club and were riding with three other club members when a car ploughed into the group near Valley Avenue in Palmerston.
Ms Lee died at the scene and Mr Riethmuller passed away at a Canberra hospital a week later.
According to Joe Walshe, co-ordinator of the Canberra Bilbys, the club is expecting 200 to 300 cyclists to come out for the ride to show how much this tragedy has affected the whole cycling community.
"Cyclists from local cycling and triathlon groups will meet at Dickson Pool at 8am and ride to Black Mountain Peninsula, where at 8.30am a moment of silence will be held to commemorate Bridie and Ryan," Mr Walshe said.
In a social media post announcing the ride, the club said, "anyone is welcome to also come directly to Black Mountain Peninsula for 8.30am."
More people and cyclists are expected to join the group at Black Mountain Peninsula for the memorial event on Saturday morning.
