Humza Yousaf to campaign in Dundee as part of summer independence drive

THE First Minister will today (Saturday) campaign in the Yes City of Dundee, as part of the SNP’s summer of independence.

Set to visit the city’s CycleFest, Humza Yousaf will meet with locals while making the case that the SNP is the only party willing to stand up for the interests of Scotland, the Scottish Parliament, and offer real change.

Commenting ahead of his visit, Yousaf said: “Only the SNP are offering real change for the people of Scotland with independence.

"Voters are suffering at the hands of a cruel Tory government who see Scotland and its people as an afterthought and a pro-Brexit Labour party, who refuse to reverse the most damaging Tory policies and are completely bereft of any positive vision for the future.

His visit follows Keir Starmer’s refusal to scrap the cruel two-child cap and rape clause, which the SNP says, shows Labour offering “no alternative to the Tories.”

Starmer is expected to address the national policy forum on Saturday as members and affiliated groups consider what ideas Labour should put forward in its manifesto at next year’s likely election.

Yousaf added: “Keir Starmer’s refusal to scrap the Tories abhorrent two-child cap and rape clause isn’t only a let down to thousands of families - 830 here in Dundee - it’s a betrayal of his own party and values.

“The only way Scotland can escape unelected right-wing governments is with the powers of independence; to ensure that the people of Scotland always get the governments they vote for, and to support thousands of families out of poverty for good.”

Yousaf is then to take part in campaigning with local activists and members of Young Scots for Independence.
