An SNP activist who is married to Health Secretary Humza Yousaf is to stand in this year's local council elections in Dundee.
Nadia El-Nakla is seeking a seat in the West End ward of Dundee City Council as one of the SNP's 16 candidates across the local authority area.
She is one of four new faces the party is putting forward ahead of voters going to the polls on Thursday May 5, alongside activists Siobhan Tolland, Qaiser Habib and Heather Anderson - and 12 existing SNP councillors.
Ms El-Nakla has recently been in the public eye amid the row between her family and a Broughty Ferry nursery accused of racial discrimination.
She said she felt "vindicated" after a Care Inspectorate investigation found Little Scholars had not acted fairly when offering places to children.
The Daily Record previously reported that places were readily offered to children with white-sounding names, while enquiries made with Asian-sounding names resulted in no offers being made.
The nursery, currently the subject of legal action by Ms El-Nakla and her family, denies the allegations.
Official council candidate lists are yet to be published, but parties across the political spectrum have announced candidates in recent weeks.
The Scottish Greens are fielding candidates across every ward including Tanya Jones, a researcher for MSP Maggie Chapman, and environmental campaigner Kate Treharne.
Alex Salmond's Alba Party is also staking its claim to seats in Dundee's eight council wards led by SNP defector Alan Ross, who quit the mainstream party in May 2021.
Labour's new candidates include Wendy Scullin, proprietor of Madigan's Tea Shop in Dundee's Castle Street, and BT worker Pete Shears.
The Conservatives are yet to detail their full list of candidates, but incumbents Philip Scott, Derek Scott and Donald Hay are expected to run for re-election.
Dundee's Lib Dems are expected to field existing councillors Fraser Macpherson and Craig Duncan alongside returning candidates Michael Crichton, Daniel Coleman.
The Trade Union and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) is also putting forward candidates across a number of city wards.
Dundee's full list of council candidates is expected to be published at the end of March.
