A humpback whale discovered deceased off a Danish island has been confirmed as the same animal that underwent a high-profile rescue operation just two weeks prior.

The creature, known by rescuers as 'Timmy' and 'Hope', had repeatedly become stranded along Germany's Baltic Sea coast, prompting a dramatic and contentious rescue effort.
