‘Humiliation is not a gift’: Husband offers wife laziest present imaginable as he wraps up a promise to do basic parenting so she can work out for him

It’s the post-Christmas period and so it’s time to hear about all the thoughtful, or not-so-thoughtful, gifts shared between family members. Every year, like clockwork, there will be a story on TikTok about a clueless husband giving his wife a terrible present but this year’s story truly takes the cake (or should I say mince pie?) as one wife received the most thoughtless and offensive gift imaginable.

The story, which was shared by TikToker, “yourbestiemisha” who states, “I saw the saddest Christmas gift ever on social media today.” While the video he’s talking about remains elusive, others on TikTok have also given their responses to the situation. Misha claims he was scrolling through social media when he came across a video of a husband filming his wife opening her Christmas gift from him

“What was the big Christmas gift? A card.” he states. In said card, was written a promise that read, “I will watch the kids for you so you can go to the gym.” How thoughtful, maybe next year he should just get her a Toblerone, assuming she sticks around till next year.

Basic parenting is not a gift

Of course, many online have already taken issue with the husband’s promise because he’s essentially just promised to do what any regular father should be doing as standard. He’s offering the baseline, something he should already have been doing. And what’s worse, he’s only offering it so that she can go to the gym, talk about a double-whammy, does she even want to go to the gym, or does he just want her to go?

There’s no universe in which this could be considered a thoughtful, or even remotely passable Christmas gift and Misha claims the wife even asked the husband if he was joking. Unfortunately he wasn’t, it sounds like he genuinely believed he was doing a great thing when in reality he wrapped the bare minimum up in Christmas wrapping paper and acted like it was a truly thoughtful gesture.

In the comments on Misha’s video, others shared their similar experiences with men who failed in getting their partners thoughtful gifts. Turns out this isn’t an entirely uncommon experience, surprise, surprise. “My dad gave my mom a sit up board for Christmas when I was a kid.” wrote one viewer. “This was his last Christmas as my husband. Total disrespect.” added another.

It seems some people need to up their Christmas gift game as what this husband offered his wife was simply not good. Maybe next year he’ll get it right although other viewers recommended divorce for the couple so there may not be a next year for him.
