More than 130 United Nations human rights experts have called on governments to combat transnational repression, warning that spyware, malware, social media and artificial intelligence are being used to target people beyond their borders.
The joint statement, published on 23 September, is backed by UN Special Procedures mandate holders and Treaty Body members, including the UN's Special Rapporteurs on Iran, Russia, Belarus and North Korea.
