England international Jordan Abdull has vowed to repay Hull KR's investment in him after signing a new deal with the Super League club.
The talented stand-off has extended his stay at Sewell Group Craven Park by agreeing a two-year contract extenstion. Abdull, originally out of of contract at the end of next season, will now remain until at least the end of 2026. It is a major boost for Willie Peters' side given how increasingly influential he has become.
Abdull, who originally spent a year at the Robins on loan from Hull FC in 2017, joined from London Broncos in 2020 and went on to earn international honours. He has made more than 50 appearances for them and forged an exciting half-back partnership with Mikey Lewis.
Abdull said: "I spoke to Willie about how I see myself moving forward at the club with all the stuff off the field, the new board and some of the results we’re starting to get on the field now. Also, the people we’re recruiting for next year, it’s exciting times at this club. With my quad, for two seasons in a row I’ve missed a heap of games.
"It’s time I give something back to the club; they’ve invested in me. Now for the next two, three years, the challenge I’ve set myself is to play as often as I can and as well as I can."
On Abdull, who is set to return at Catalans on Saturday after six weeks out injured, Peters added: "Jordan's shown how important he is to our team. But also, where he is mentally, he’s in a good place and he knows he’s going into the best years of his career and we’re glad he’s staying with us. He’s a deep thinker of the game, which you need from a half. What I like about him is he’s calm, but he’s direct with his communication and what he wants from the team."
It is good news for the Robins who have confirmed a series of injury blows today. Back-row James Batchelor is in a neck brace for eight weeks and prop Jesse Sue (hamstring) is out for four months after Magic Weekend injuries. Tom Opapic misses the French trip after briefly heading home to Australia for personal reasons and Lachlan Coote (head) is also sidelined.
