A business in Hull is set to relocate after being acquired by a Bristol-based engineering and manufacturing group.
Avon Group, which was founded in Bristol more than 40 years ago, has added AntiVibe (Hull) Limited to its group of companies for an undisclosed amount.
Established in 1998, AntiVibe makes power transmission couplings and precision-made technical rubber and plastic components used in cars, heavy plant and industrial machinery.
The firm also has expertise in the design of components for the aerospace sector, supplying moulded rubber and rubber metal-bonded products for dynamic testing in wing and airframe construction, as well as products for airport baggage reclaim systems.
Avon Group, based on South Liberty Lane in Bedminster, plans to integrate the business with its subsidiary Scandura in Corby, Northamptonshire, which itself is a specialist supplier of gaskets and industrial rubber products.
As part of the deal AntiVibe will continue to operate under the same name, while its current owners - Pete Bolton and Mike Render - will stay on board to oversee its integration into Avon Group.
Avon Group said AntiVibe’s 12-strong workforce will be offered the opportunity to relocate - a 115 mile switch south.
Group director Mark Rushin said: “The integration of the business within Avon Group will create the opportunity to relocate [AntiVibe] to new premises when its current lease expires and take advantage of the resources and investment potential of being part of a larger group of like-minded businesses operating in similar markets.
“This is another significant acquisition for the group as we have continued to invest, through challenging times, in businesses that can contribute added depth and scale to our existing group offering.”
In March, Avon Group announced it had acquired Telford acoustic foam and rubber products firm Acousta, while deals for Scandura and Edgewest Plastics of Cheltenham were completed last year.
Privately owned and with a group turnover approaching £80m, the business comprises 10 companies based around the UK and in the US, employing more than 650 people.
Avon Group was established by Mr Rushin’s father Alan in 1979. The business has grown and diversified its services to include the provision of automotive components and it is also a manufacturer of rubber seals and gaskets for aerosols.
