Hugo Lloris has revealed that he will help Tottenham find another player to represent the club on a long-term basis before he calls time on his Spurs career.
Set to be out of contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at the end of the current season, the Spurs shot-stopper has put talk about his future to bed by signing a new two-year deal.
Lloris' contract extension now ties him to the club until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Showing over the past couple of years that he still has so much to offer Tottenham despite turning 35 on Boxing Day, the Frenchman will have served the Lilywhites for 12 years if he sees out his new contract.
Set to mark a decade in the capital this summer following his move from Lyon in 2012, Lloris arrived at the club just after Ledley King had bid a fond farewell after 13 years as a player.
Admitting that having players serving a club for a long time helps keep a high level of consistency, the goalkeeper has admitted that he will try and find another person to represent the club over the next decade before his new two-year deal expires.
"If you want to keep the club at a certain level with consistency at high level it is not only about one men, it is about a few men who help the club through the years to keep this level," he said in an interview with club legend King when speaking about his new contract.
"Obviously the next two years I will make sure I find another person for the next 10 years."
Lloris unfortunately hasn't tasted success at club level during his decade at Tottenham so far, with Spurs last lifting silverware back in 2008 - though he did of course lift the World Cup with France back in 2018.
Following a couple of bad seasons at the club after missing out on a Champions League finish, the goalkeeper believes that Spurs are heading in the right direction again with Antonio Conte at the helm.
"I believe we are in a new process under Antonio Conte, he gave us foundation, a structure towards the team and it's for the players to show their quality," he added. "Probably step by step we are going to see progress.
"My wish is to become even more competitive, why not be back in the Champions League this season? This is my personal target to help in this way."
