Hugo Lloris claims Tottenham feel squad feel they are ‘crossing a plateau’ under Antonio Conte

Hugo Lloris says the Tottenham squad feel a “real progression” under the stewardship of Antonio Conte.

The Frenchman penned a new deal at Spurs in January, running until the summer of 2024 and continues to be one of the club’s key players.

While Spurs have suffered from bout of inconsistency since Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo in November, a recent run of good form puts them in contention to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Currently, they sit three points off of bitter rivals Arsenal in fourth spot with a crunch north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to come.

Spurs have only lost one of their last five Premier League games and face favourable looking games against Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford before the month of April is over.

Speaking to Europe 1 while away on international duty, Lloris offered some insight into his signing of a new contract, as well as how his teammates gauge their progress under Conte.

“I extended a month and a half ago. Things were done fairly quickly with the leaders, with a lot of respect and consideration,” he said.

“It’s been two and a half years that we know ups and downs, irregularity in terms of results. But since the arrival of Conte, we feel a real progression.

“We have the feeling that we are crossing a plateau. I think we will be ready to go for the European places.”
