Hugh Grant has given his backing to an anti- Boris Johnson protest set to take place this weekend.
The Love Actually actor, 61, has been passionately vocal about his political views over recent years, often holding the current Prime Minister and his government to account.
In August 2019, Hugh even branded Mr Johnson, 57, an "over-promoted rubber bath toy", ahead of the Conservative Party winning a majority at the general election four months later.
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday - where he often shares his political opinions - Hugh gave a tweet promoting the activist group Take Back Democracy a boost to his 714,600 followers.
The collective of grassroots activists - who describe themselves as "Always anti-fascist, united against this Johnson government" - are planning a march this Saturday to protest about the numerous failings made by the current government.
Passionate anti-Brexiteer Hugh could be one famous face joining them over the weekend, after the actor shared a message from one of the group's activists promoting the upcoming protest.
"Never have I seen more businesses going bust, more people in poverty, such a great divide between rich and poor, or such corruption in our government," read the original post quote-tweeted by Hugh on Wednesday.
"It has to change and it starts Saturday."
The tweet also included an image offering further details about the march set to take place in Parliament Square on Saturday 19 February at noon.
Not only did Hugh share the tweet with his thousands of followers, the dad-of-three seemingly added his seal of approval - endorsing the message with a pointing finger and a solidarity fist emoji.
Further details about the planned demonstration can be found on the group's website, with a statement includes the quote: "We felt compelled to do something in the wake of the ongoing corruption of the UK Government.
"We wanted to do something to stop the slide into fascism and to be a counterargument to the populist agenda."
Hugh is no stranger to backing political campaigns and ruffling a few feathers in parliament.
In one of his more scathing attacks on Mr Johnson, the About a Boy actor warned the under-fire Conservative Party leader not to "f**k with" his the next generation's future.
"You will not f**k with my children’s future. You will not destroy the freedoms my grandfather fought two world wars to defend," the star directly tweeted the Prime Minister in August 2019.
"F**k off you over-promoted rubber bath toy. Britain is revolted by you and you little gang of masturbatory prefects."
Last year, the actor accused the government of "exploiting the pandemic to enrich their friends and donors".
Hugh took to Twitter in March 2021 to shared a thread that included a report about an IT company that was allegedly paid millions across multiple coronavirus contracts and has "extensive links to the Conservatives".
"Always heartwarming to watch this government exploit a pandemic to enrich their friends and donors," the actor and activist added to the online discussion.
Regarding Hugh's tweet, a Cabinet Office spokesperson said to The Independent at the time: "Non-Executive directors declare any relevant interest upon appointment, which are transparently published annually, and they follow the Code of Conduct for board members of public bodies.
"Their independent advice brings an external perspective to scrutinise the business of government and ensure value for taxpayers’ money."
