Self-storage operator StoreAway has secured a £5.2m investment to open a new storage facility in the centre of Bath.
The 27,000 sq ft facility on London Road will be home to 245 lockers across two floors in a building which was formerly used as a furniture storage depositary.
StoreAway said the move was part of a drive to reinvent more than 250,000 sq ft of redundant retail space across UK high streets into storage space.
After launching its flagship Liverpool site in May, StoreAway opened a second facility weeks later in Cheltenham, with another in Birmingham following in September. Further sites have been confirmed in Basildon, Essex and Swindon, with plans to open later next year.
Managing director Richard Lanyon said: “As StoreAway’s fourth opening, the Bath site is in a prime spot that is enriched in heritage and close to many residential areas.
“It’s also on a busy street where businesses trade, with the added benefit of goods access and loading bays, as well as a functional goods lift.”
Mr Lanyon confirmed StoreAway had secured funding for the Bath site from Nash Business Capital, adding the firm had “ambitious plans” to expand its portfolio over the next three years.
