Huge Sausage and Cider Festival in Leeds with chocolate alcohol and eating competitions

A popular Sausage and Cider Festival is returning to Leeds this weekend.

The annual event is held in 50 locations across the country and welcomes around 80,000 people every year. The Leeds event will be held at Leeds Armouries on Saturday, May 6. There will be live music from tribute acts, live DJs, eating competitions and more.

There are plenty of food and drinks stalls, including 12 different sausage flavours and over 15 different flavoured craft ciders - from pineapple to chocolate. Other beverages include prosecco, gin, beer and soft drinks.

There will be eating competitions, including a fastest sausage eating challenge, where participants will try and eat a one-metre sausage as fast as they can. There will also be a chilli eating competitions where competitors will take on six rounds of hot chillies.

There will be a range of "amazing" live music on stage, with a combination of local acts plus some of the UK’s best tribute acts.

A spokesperson for the festival said: "We pride ourselves on working with some of the UK’s independent and best cider makers. Our events offer a wide range of unique flavours of craft ciders, such as rum, chocolate, pineapple and mixed berry.

"We also offer traditional apple and pear flavours. At both our indoor and outdoor events we will have an amazing array of sausage flavours from our vendors on site. These could be extremely hot and spicy down to leak and potato flavour. At each event these may differ so keep an eye out on our social media for updates.

"What else can you ask for? We#ve got sausage, cider, eating competitions, and live music - the absolute dream."

There are two sessions including the afternoon from 12pm to 5pm and the evening from 6pm until 11pm. Attendees must be at least 18 years old. Ticket prices range from £10 to £25, with early bird tickets already sold out.
