The ever-controversial LIV Golf Series returns this week, as it heads to Chicago for its fifth event of the season at Rich Harvest Farms. After a week off with many of its stars competing at the BMW PGA Championship, the Saudi-funded circuit is once again back on the road and staying on American soil.
As there is at every event, there is a lucrative prize pot for those competing with £17 million on offer in the singles event and £4.3 million at stake in the team aspect of the competition. Once again, the man coming out on top in Chicago will rake in £3.4 million in winnings.
Second place will then receive £1.8 million, whilst third in the singles side of the event will come away with a cool £1.3 million. The man finishing dead last will still end their week with a tidy £102,000.
In the team event, there will be prizes for the top three teams with the money being split evenly between the four players. The top side in Chicago will win a bonus of £2.6 million between them, whilst second will take £1.3 million and third £427,000.
LIV new boys Cameron Smith, Cameron Tringale, Joaquin Niemann, Harold Varner III, Marc Leishman, and Anirban Lahiri will all be making their second appearance on the breakaway circuit after debuting in Boston, but there is one change to the field that heads out this week.
In the season standings, Dustin Johnson's dramatic play-off victory in Boston means he is the man leading the way four events in, 17 points ahead of second place Branden Grace. Johnson is also dominating in the team side of the series, having won three straight events with his teammates Patrick Reed, Pat Perez and Talor Gooch.
