A NEW mural has appeared in a Scottish city centre ahead of the release of the latest film in the Hunger Games franchise.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is set to release in cinemas later this year.
Set 24 years before the original Hunger Games trilogy, the film follows a young Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games.
The film stars Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons, Mckenna Grace, Maya Hawke, Glenn Close, Billy Porter, Kieran Culkin and Joseph Zada.
Ahead of the film's release, a number of murals have been seen appearing in cities around the world – with one popping up in Edinburgh.
The mural, located on the city's Cowgate area, depicts a "Peacekeeper", a military officer which enforces Capitol laws in the various districts.
The Capitol is the wealthy metropolis which serves as the ruling government in the fictional nation of Panem.
At the top and bottom of the mural, text reads: "Peace is preserved not promised.
"Brought to you by the Capitol."
At the bottom of the mural, the logo for the Capitol can also be seen.
Lionsgate – the production company behind The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping – has been running a global mural campaign to promote the release of the film.
An identical mural has appeared in Cardiff, while there are also displays in New York City, Mexico City and Amsterdam.
