Huge fire breaks out near ‘weapons factory’ as locals told to ‘keep windows shut’

A man is fighting for his life after a huge fire broke out near what is thought to be a weapons systems factory, with hundreds of emergency personnel on the scene.

Two people were taken to hospital - with police confirming one is in a critical condition.

Locals have been told to keep windows and doors shut after fire crews were called out to Erewash, Derbyshire, late last night.

Firefighters from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the scene on Wilne Road in the village of Draycott at just before 9.15pm.

The fire is understood to have broken out at pyrotechnics firm PW Defence, known locally as the "fireworks factory".
