A HUGE fire has broken out at a hotel believed to be housing asylum seekers near Wembley Stadium.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the first of 29 calls reporting the blaze at the Holiday Inn on Empire Way at around 12.30 this afternoon.
Fire crews – including six fire engines and around 40 firefighters – rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control.
The Home Office said it couldn’t comment on the use of the hotel as asylum seeker accommodation – but it was used for that purpose last year.
It is unclear as of yet what caused the fire.
The LFB said: “Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters responded to a fire at a hotel on Empire Way, Wembley.
“The Brigade received the first of 29 calls reporting the fire at 1234.
“Control officers mobilised crews from Park Royal, Willesden, Northolt and surrounding fire stations to the scene.
“Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control by 1321.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
