A huge cannabis farm containing hundreds of plants has been found in a derelict factory near Rochdale. The farm was uncovered by electricity workers who had entered the building on Market Street in Shawforth to switch off the supply.
They called police who seized more than 1,000 cannabis plants and extensive electrical equipment. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

The discovery was made at around 10am on Thursday. Sgt Mick Johnson said: "The activities of drug dealers can have a dramatic impact on our communities.
"It can ruin lives and instil fear in our neighbourhoods and we are determined to tackle that. The local community is a vital source of intelligence, and I would urge anyone with any information about this discovery to contact us and help us to tackle drug crime."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 321 of July 7, 2022.
