A large area of central London has been shut down by authorities after reports of a suspicious package were made this morning. Some Twitter users say the police response is due to an individual launching bricks at windows.
Images shared on social media show broken windows and shards of glass on the cordoned off street. Several police vehicles were also pictured arriving at the scene.
City of London Police tweeted that they attended the area near Bank Tube station after receiving reports of a suspicious package. Transport for London also confirmed on Twitter that Bank station has been shut due to a "security alert", the Mirror reports.
They wrote: "Bank station - closed due to a security alert at street level. Monument station is not affected and is operating normally."
The Waterloo and City Line has also been suspended this morning due to an ongoing incident at Bank station.
The City of London Police tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a report of a suspicious package at #MansionHouse.
