
The new chief executive of HS2 says he has unearthed three key reasons why the high-speed rail line has gone massively over budget and will not reach central London for more than a decade.
Mark Wild made the revelation as he predicted that the opening of the first leg of the railway – between Old Oak Common in west London and Curzon Street station in Birmingham – would be a “day of national celebration”.
