West Ham United supporters wishing to attend next week’s Europa Conference League first-leg clash with Viborg at the London Stadium could face difficulties getting there.
The Hammers will face Danish side Viborg over two legs in the play-off qualifying round of the competition, with the winners qualifying for the group stages of the competition.
The first leg of the tie takes place in east London on Thursday, August 18 at 7:45pm. However, the game coincides with one of the planned train strikes taking place this month.

On the day of the Hammers’ first leg against Viborg, the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) have planned striking action that day, with union leaders citing “paltry” pay rise offers as the reason behind the strikes.
In total across the United Kingdom, around 40,000 workers, including 20,000 from National Rail, are striking, with 13 train operators also striking. Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, Greater Anglia, LNER, East Midlans Railway, c2c, Great Western Railway, Northern Trains, South Eastern, South Western Railway, TransPennine Express, Avanti West Coast, West Midlands Trains, GTR (including Gatwick Express), London Overground, Great Western Railways, Hull Trains and London Northwestern Railway are all striking that day, with none or limited services running.
Fortunately, London Underground are not striking on that day, meaning people wanting to travel via the tube will still be able to do so. However, London Underground are planning a 24 hour strike on Friday, August 19.
The Hammers will face Viborg in the return leg on Thursday, August 25 in Denmark, kicking off at 6pm UK time (7pm local time).
