How warm UK will be this week as extreme health warnings issued

  • The extreme heat is expected to cause widespread disruption to rail, road, and air travel, with warnings of potential tarmac melting and advice for travellers to carry water.
  • Temperatures could reach 34C in central southern England on Monday, climbing to 37C in southern England and south-east Wales on Tuesday, and potentially 38C or higher on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • The public is advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, avoid exercising between 11am and 3pm, check on vulnerable individuals, and exercise caution around open water.
