Tyne and Wear Metro trains will not operate on a stretch of its track on the same days that railway workers are due to strike across the country.
While Tyne and Wear Metro staff are not joining the RMT's strike, the Metro shares track with the National Rail network between Pelaw and South Hylton. As Network Rail signal staff are taking part in the RMT strike, Nexus says it can not run Metro trains on the stretch of track between Pelaw and South Hylton - which includes stations in the Sunderland area - on Tuesday June 21 and Thursday June 22.
Metro lines south of the Tyne will also be closed on Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26, due to pre-planned engineering works.

Rail replacement buses will only be available on one of the strike dates, Saturday June 25. On Tuesday June 21 and Thursday June 23, passengers will have to use regular bus services instead. Stagecoach and Go North East will accept some Metro tickets in areas affected.
Metro trains will start later than usual on Wednesday June 23 and Friday June 25, when the strike is not taking place.
Engineering works mean disruption on Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26. Rail replacement buses will operate on those days.
How June's RMT strike affects Tyne Wear Metro trains
As Network Rail staff are taking part in the RMT strike, Metro services will be affected, as it shares tracks with the national rail network. Nexus says it is unable to run Metro trains on that section because of Network Rail staff striking. Parts of the network will also be closed on the third strike date, and the day after that, due to engineering works.
In addition, on the days after each strike, Metro trains operating on the stretch of track that was closed the previous day will resume later than usual.
The strike disruption affects the route between Pelaw and South Hylton, including all Sunderland stations. The engineering work disruption affects the lines between Heworth and South Hylton and Heworth and South Shields.
Tuesday June 21 - Strike day
There will be no Metro services between Pelaw and South Hylton. Passengers should use local bus services instead. There is no rail replacement service.
Metro Season Tickets and one-week tickets will be accepted on Go North East and Stagecoach buses in areas affected by the line closure Nexus says.
Normal service elsewhere on the Metro network, including Newcastle and North Tyneside and Heworth to South Shields.
Wednesday June 22 - No strike

Saturday June 25 - Strike day AND engineering works
In addition to the strike, engineering work is planned on the lines between Heworth and South Shields and Heworth and South Hylton. Metro trains will not run on those routes on Saturday. Rail replacement buses will operate roughly every 20 minutes.
Trains will run to other stations, but not always to the usual timetable
Sunday June 26 - Engineering works but no strike
No Metro trains will run between Heworth-South Shields and Heworth-South Hylton all day on Sunday June 26 due to pre-planned engineering works. Rail replacement buses will operate every 20 minutes. Expect timetable changes around the network.
Will the Metro trains run elsewhere on the network on strike dates?
Yes, Nexus says Metro services will operate as normal, other than on the Pelaw - South Hylton stretch, on Tuesday June 21 and Thursday June 24. They will operate on Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26 too, but the engineering work may result in changes to the timetables.
