World Cup 2026 live streams are serving up the opening pair of Round of 16 games today, including title favourites France's clash against Paraguay, who produced the biggest upset of the tournament so far by knocking out four-time world champions Germany – on penalties no less.
Up first, however, is Canada's meeting with Morocco, who reached the semi-finals four years ago and have so far drawn with Brazil and eliminated the Netherlands via a shootout that verged on the farcical. The Canucks, to put it bluntly, have been largely disappointing, and they no longer have the home advantage they enjoyed throughout the group stage. Although Alphonso Davies is fit again, the Atlas Lions are hot favourites at NRG Stadium.
France vs Paraguay, on paper at least, carries far more intrigue, not just because La Albirroja took down the Germans, but because of the way Cape Verde went at Argentina last night. A late own goal ultimately rescued the holders, but Vozinha, Sidny Lopes Cabral and the Blue Sharks demonstrated that even the wildest mismatch needn't be a foregone conclusion.
Julio Enciso scored in regulation time and Jose Canale netted what proved to be the winning spotkick for Paraguay on Monday, but while Germany were an opponent with glaring flaws, France are not. If anything, the fear was that Les Bleus had too many elite-grade attackers, but Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele have played off each other perfectrly so far, thanks in no small part to Michael Olise.
So read on as we explain how to watch World Cup 2026 live streams online, on TV and potentially for free wherever you are. We've also listed today's fixtures, the full schedule and the group standings.

World Cup 2026: Need to Know
World Cup 2026 Preview
The World Cup's familiar magic is already visible everywhere: in its ability to drag Neymar back from the edge of a seemingly fading international career; in the almost cruel delight it takes in convincing England, the Netherlands, Belgium and others that this might finally be their Sisyphean breakthrough; in the tight grip it still wields over Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal.
Even those who have already climbed to the top aren't immune. Lionel Messi was expected to bow out after Argentina finally crossed the line four years ago, though not without controversy over several key refereeing decisions. Instead, he chose to extend his international story, combining one last campaign with an ambassadorial role in the United States.
Kylian Mbappé, meanwhile, was just 19 when he carried France to glory eight years ago. In Qatar, he topped the scoring charts and famously struck a hat-trick in the final. Now, despite only two World Cup appearances, he stands on the brink of potentially becoming the tournament’s all-time leading scorer with five goals this summer. Yet he also finds himself in the strange position of needing success partly to quiet criticism from Real Madrid’s suspiciously vast supporter base.
Adding to the intrigue are Lamine Yamal and Erling Haaland, two of club football’s most devastating talents, both poised to make a defining impact on the global stage. Even with a recent hamstring setback, the sheer presence of the 18-year-old Yamal in Spain’s squad reinforces their status among the favourites.
