England’s below-par display against the USA on Friday was certainly a disappointment following their impressive start to the tournament, but despite dropping two points, qualification for the last 16 is still very much in the Three Lions’ hands.
This evening, Gareth Southgate and his side take on Rob Page’s Wales, who find themselves bottom of Group B after a shock defeat to Iran. Their draw against the US means they still have a tiny glimmer of hope to hold onto, but the task at hand is a big one.
With England sitting top with four points, victory will see them progress to the next round and secure a first-place finish in the group. A draw will also be enough to get the job done if USA vs Iran ends all square.
