Novak Djokovic goes in search of a 10th Australian Open title as he faces Stefanos Tsitsipas in Sunday’s final.
A hamstring injury has been the main story for the 35-year-old over the past fortnight, but it has not looked too serious a problem in the second week of the tournament. Djokovic’s last three opponents have taken a combined 20 games off him.
It’s now five years since he last lost at the Australian Open, and he is a strong favourite to move alongside Rafael Nadal on 22 Grand Slam titles with another win in Melbourne.
Standing in his way is Tsitsipas, who has had to battle his way past the likes of Jannik Sinner and Karen Khachanov to reach this stage.
This is the 24-year-old’s second Grand Slam final, and there are positives he will reflect on from the first even if he ultimately fell short. Tsitsipas was two sets up against Djokovic in the French Open final two years ago, before Djokovic mounted a thrilling comeback.
