The 2023 Road Cycling World Championships are part of the biggest cycling event ever as one of 13 World Championship events rolled into one festival of cycling in Glasgow and around Scotland. The road events headline both weekends of the championships through the men's and women's elite road races. Road racing kicked off on August 5 in the junior road races the day before the highly anticipated men's road race. Time trials fill the week after before the events come to a close with the women's elite road race on 13 August. Glasgow and Stirling host the finishes for all the road events and will be the arena for some of cycling's biggest names. Denmark's Albert Philipsen took an explosive solo win in the men's junior road race, after Julie Bego rode away from the field in the women's race to claim the first road rainbow jersey of the championships for France. With the elite events still to come, look out for big names in Tadej Pogačar, Remco Evenepoel and Mathieu Van der Poel on the men's side, and Demi Vollering, Lotte Kopecky and Lorena Wiebes in the women's races.
